Left Purros today 890ft above sea level. Climbed to Sesfontein which is 2500ft above sea level
We need to make Kavita at 4200ft . From there we need to cross the Etosha at a further 3000ft , so over the Etosha we will be at about 7500ft above sea level.
We took off toward Sesfontein, after taking 2hours and 15 minutes to get from Purros We landed to collect fuel from the pump. The pump station had not paid their account , the bill had not bee paid and there was no fuel in the desert.
We convinced a policeman to sell us 20 litres of fuel out of his van and got 20 litres from a Bottle store , the fuel situation here is dire. A number of 4/4 vans turned back to Palamwag, a 110 kilometres away to get fuel to continue into the desert. Hearing this I could not travel 110 kms for fuel so made a plan with the locals and got shafted but it was petrol!
Tried to take off but the air was too warm and decided to stay .
I am in the desert , can’t take off , civilization does not exist, Last night the Himba people selected a young ox and stuck a knife through the back of its head and by morning the entire beast was eaten from the nostril to the tail
